Print Ad Campaign, Copywriting, Photo Manipulation

The NASA print campaign focuses on people of all ages interested in space, ranging from space enthusiasts to casual space enjoyers, to promote and educate the public on the one-year anniversary of the launch of the Psyche satellite. Each application uses photomanipulation to have space centered objects surrounding three main words that embody the Psyche mission, while also featuring the Psyche satellite and a QR code that takes consumers to the Psyche website to learn more about the mission and see where Psyche currently is.

Key Research Takeaways

  • NASA launched a new mission in the beginning of October 2023 to journey to Psyche, an asteroid orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter.

  • Psyche is unique as it appears to be the exposed nickel-iron core of an early planet, one of the building blocks of our solar system.

  • The mission has been in-progress since early 2015 and is set to make contact with 16 Psyche in 2029, possibly giving scientists a more in-depth look at the inside of terrestrial planets.

Concept

Following the launch of Psyche in October of 2023, it has been orbiting the asteroid and has been in space for a year. Using photomanipulation, words representing the mission are integrated with imagery having to do with the initial launch. The three-part poster series shows the journey of Psyche from take-off to orbit. The pay-off copy pays homage to the space enthusiasts that allow NASA to do what it does and continue to Question Everything in life and in space.

Design Principles

  • Utilize space photography to visualize the mission in layman’s terms

  • Create engaging visuals that make consumers want to dive deeper into the Psyche mission, and what NASA does

  • Layer type with photography to encourage viewers to become curious about their surroundings

The Out-of Home Ads

Engaging. Inquisitive. Innovative.

The campaign showcases the inquisitive nature and curiosity needed to find the answers to questions about our planet and space. The designs utilize multiple layers to visualize and tell the story of the Psyche mission in an easily digestible manner.
